Chief Robert A. Verry started his career with the Middlesex County College Police Department in 1988, joining South Bound Brook Police Department in 1989. Robert served as P .B.A. President before being promoted to Sergeant in 1995; Lieutenant in 1996; Chief in 2000; and retiring in March 2008. Presently, Robert is a full-time Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice & Political & Governmental Affairs and Director of the Paralegal & Legal Studies program with Centenary University. Additionally, Robert is a Licensed Private Detective, freelance Paralegal, and serve/d as a Representative/Consultant before the Public Employment Relations Commission.

Since 2007, Robert actively provides law enforcement consulting services throughout New Jersey and while in that capacity served as a Hearing Officer for sworn and unsworn personnel, reviewed police department’s internal affairs policy and procedures, reviewed defense expert’s reports, and serves as an internal affairs investigator. Robert is qualified and testified as an expert in Superior Court; specifically for: Internal Affairs and Supervisory Investigations; and Policies and Procedures.

Robert holds an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice, a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Public Administration (MLPA) and an MBA. At present, Robert is working on his doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership. Additionally, Robert is a graduate Paralegal from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Certified Public Manager and graduate of West Point Command & Leadership, Public Sector Labor Relations Certificate Program, and Police Law Enforcement Executive.

Robert is also the founding member of New Jerseys’ Internal Affairs Association where he serves as President since 2004’s commencement. Robert is directly and indirectly involved in well over 1,000 police misconduct investigations and presented over 100 seminars across New Jersey related to Internal Affairs investigations including, but not limited to, a basic course that reviews the Attorney General Internal Affairs Policy and Procedure; Employee Discipline; Understanding Past Practice, and Controlling Absenteeism.
